Thank you for visiting my orthodontic blog.
I am a NYC orthodontist, and I have been straightening teeth with Invisalign since the 1990s when I was an orthodontic resident. Back then, there were no instruction manuals, and Invisalign was not yet approved by the FDA. I started with simple cases and gradually increased difficulty with successful results.
Invisalign has come a long way since the early days and has revolutionized the field of orthodontics. It is great that we have an alternative to traditional metal braces. It is great that we have a way to straighten teeth where nobody can tell you are wearing braces until you let them know. It is great that adults can achieve the health benefits of having straight teeth without impacting their lifestyles or careers.
Unfortunately, one of the not so good changes is that any dentist is allowed to treat patients with this technology. I love dentists; I really do. Some of my best friends are dentists, but dentists should not be straightening your teeth.
I see way too many patients in my office who come to me as a result of improperly administered Invisalign treatment. Making the problem worse is that there is so much mis-information on the web that it is hard for people to know what is true.
My goal for this blog is to give you the straight story on orthodontics and Invisalign. I will give honest and ethical information that is based on sound science and practical experience. I hope this information helps you find a highly qualified and experienced orthodontist wherever you are.
Please, never let anyone straighten your or your loved ones’ teeth unless there is an orthodontist insight.
